Pink Gin Beach is one of the calmer, more sheltered stretches on Grenada's southwest coast, and Sandals made the most of that geography when it rebuilt the former LaSource property and reopened it in 2014. The resort's most talked-about design feature isn't a pool deck or lobby — it's a set of suites where the balcony IS the pool, with an infinity-edge plunge pool cantilevered over the upper floors. The "swim-up suites" on the ground level let guests step directly from their patio into a dedicated pool lane. These aren't marketing gimmicks unique to other resorts — they're genuinely distinctive layouts at Grenada.
This property works best for couples who want to stay on-site and eat well. Ten specialty restaurants is a high count for 257 rooms, which means shorter waits and more consistent quality than at larger Sandals properties. Neptune's (beachfront Mediterranean seafood, award-winning) and Butch's Chophouse are the two most consistent performers based on guest feedback. Kimonos teppanyaki books fast — secure a table on day one. Guests who want a party resort with a packed nightclub scene or non-stop entertainment will find the vibe here quieter and more intimate than, say, Sandals Royal Caribbean.
The honest drawback: the Sandals app reservation system regularly frustrates guests. Restaurants show as fully booked through the app while tables sit empty, and uncommunicated closures happen often enough to disrupt dinner plans. The workaround is to make reservations at the front desk immediately after check-in. Also, "ocean view" in Sandals category codes doesn't always mean what guests expect — partial-ocean rooms in the Pink Gin village can look out at a parking lot edge.
Practical details: 257 rooms and suites across four villages (Pink Gin, South Seas, Lover's Hideaway, Italian). Three service tiers — Sandals Luxury, Club Sandals, and Butler Elite. The rate covers all dining, unlimited premium liquor, non-motorized water sports, PADI scuba for certified divers (up to two dives/day), tennis, fitness classes, and airport transfers. Maurice Bishop International Airport is 1–2 km away, making this one of the few Sandals properties where you're at the resort before jet lag sets in. Price tier: upper-mid to luxury within the Sandals portfolio.
Dry season (January–April) brings the most reliable weather. Hurricane season (June–November) carries real risk, though Grenada sits slightly south of the main hurricane belt — it's been largely spared historically but not immune. Booking 6–9 months out for peak weeks (Christmas, Valentine's, Presidents' Day) is advisable, especially for Butler Elite categories.
