U.S. News and World Report
Royalton Grenada's most practical selling point is its location: less than 1 km from Maurice Bishop International Airport, making it one of the shortest airport-to-resort transfers in the Caribbean. For families or travelers with young children who don't want a long post-flight drive, this matters. The resort occupies a distinct strip of coast in Tamarind Bay with access to two different beaches — one calm and sheltered for swimming and relaxation, one more active for water sports — which gives guests variety without leaving the property.
The resort opened in 2020, which makes it relatively new compared to much of Grenada's tourism infrastructure. The family-friendly orientation is genuine: the Kids Club runs structured programming, the Hangout Teens Lounge addresses teenagers, and the dining program covers all meal periods with a buffet and specialty restaurants. Couples and honeymooners also make up a significant segment of guests, particularly those upgrading to Diamond Club for butler service and the private beach section.
Service inconsistency is the most persistent issue in guest reviews. Staff performance varies noticeably — some employees receive strong individual praise, while overall service ratings suggest an inconsistent floor. Specific complaints about slow room service and early bar closing times come up often enough to be reliable indicators. Food quality is a mixed picture: the buffet is described positively for variety and rotating Caribbean flavors, but à la carte restaurants underperform relative to expectations.
Practically: 269 rooms ranging from 334 sq ft Luxury Rooms to 3,200 sq ft three-bedroom oceanfront suites. The resort charges a small resort wristband deposit — there's a fee for lost wristbands, so keep track of it. The "All-in Connectivity™" program includes Wi-Fi throughout the property. Grenada is known for spice production and is less developed for mass tourism than Jamaica or Punta Cana — this is part of its appeal for guests seeking a less crowded Caribbean destination.
