Overview

Princess Grand Jamaica is a newly built (2024, reopened March 2026 after Hurricane Melissa repairs) large-format family resort in Green Island, Hanover — a location most visitors reach from Montego Bay's Sangster International Airport, about 55 km and one hour away by road. The drive can extend to two or three hours in peak traffic, which is worth knowing before booking rather than after landing.

The resort's differentiator is the 'dual resort experience' with the adjacent Princess Senses The Mangrove. Family guests can cross into the adults-only property for its restaurants, bars, and pool facilities, while adults-only guests from The Mangrove get access to Princess Grand's Aquatic Park. This arrangement makes both properties more versatile for groups mixing families and couples — a multi-generational travel feature that not many Caribbean resort pairs offer.

The property targets families and groups specifically. 590 suites, a water park with four slides, Club Rio Kids (ages 3–12 with seven themed areas), a teen club, and a Platinum Club tier for guests who want an elevated experience within the same resort. The Jamaican food truck and Fusion 360 Asian restaurant receive the strongest dining reviews; the breakfast buffet gets consistently good feedback.

The honest limitation is that this is a large resort that can feel impersonal at scale. Guests accustomed to boutique or smaller all-inclusive properties will find the 590-suite volume and correspondingly busy pools a different experience. The beach is private white sand but reviews mention the property is still establishing its service consistency as a newer opening.

Pros

  • +Aquatic Park with four water slides is a genuine differentiator — most Jamaica all-inclusives don't have on-site water parks
  • +The dual-resort access arrangement with Princess Senses The Mangrove is useful for groups mixing families and adults-only travelers
  • +No reservation required at any restaurant — guests can decide where to eat without daily advance planning
  • +Jamaican food truck receives the strongest food reviews in the complex — a locally-flavored option most Caribbean resorts don't include

Cons

  • −Green Island location means 1–2+ hour airport transfer from Montego Bay depending on traffic — factor this into day-of-travel planning
  • −Resort was renovated in 2026 after hurricane closure — expect the property to still be establishing consistent service patterns as it rebuilds its team

Tips

  • If traveling with a mix of families and adult couples, book one party at Princess Grand and the other at Princess Senses The Mangrove — the dual-resort access means everyone benefits from both properties
  • The Aquatic Park gets busiest 10am–3pm; early morning or late afternoon visits offer significantly shorter waits at the slides
  • Confirm resort shuttle times to Montego Bay airport on arrival day — the 1–2+ hour drive with potential traffic means early airport check-in requires an early departure
