Timeshare Presentations
Some guests have found the timeshare presentations to be pushy, which can detract from the overall relaxed vacation experience and should be approached with caution.

The Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancún opened November 1, 2025, in the Bahía Petempich area of Puerto Morelos — one of the newest properties in the Iberostar portfolio. Puerto Morelos sits between Cancún and Playa del Carmen, about 20–37 km from Cancún International Airport (CUN) and typically 20–25 minutes by transfer. The location is quieter than the Cancún Hotel Zone without being as far south as Playa del Carmen.
As with any resort that has been operating for only a few months, the standard caveats apply: operational quality, food variety, and service consistency are not yet verifiable through an established review record. The early guest feedback available at the time of this writing is primarily positive on food quality and staff, but newer properties commonly experience teething issues in their first operating season. Confirm specific operational details — restaurant hours, pool availability, Star Camp scheduling — directly with the resort before arrival.
The dining program includes four specialty à la carte restaurants. Martinete (Spanish/Mediterranean tapas), L'Oliveto (Italian with artisanal pizzas and pasta), Nopal (Mexican with molcajete and pescado zarandeado), and Caribbean Restaurant / La Brisa (beachfront, casual lunch buffet converting to à la carte seafood at dinner). All require reservations for dinner. The main buffet handles breakfast, lunch, and standard dinner options. A pizza oven, burger bar, and Star Café address between-meal and late-night needs.
Five pools serve distinct purposes. The children's pool includes a Splash Pad with slides and interactive jets — the Star Camp water area. Swim-up pools are exclusive to guests in swim-up suites. The Star Prestige pool is adults-only with premium service. A swim-up bar pool handles general social swimming. Seasonal seaweed (sargassum) affects the resort beach — the property uses barriers and cleanup, but summer months can be challenging for direct ocean swimming.
The teen program (Eagles, age 13–17) features a retro-themed entertainment area with table football, pool tables, darts, a DJ table, and an audiovisual gaming zone — a more thoughtfully designed teen space than most all-inclusive properties offer. Star Camp covers ages 4–12 with crafts, obstacle circuits, sustainable toys, and splash park access. The 24-hour health club gym and hydrotherapy area (sauna, steam room, jacuzzi — included) are available to all guests.
Swim-up suites connect directly to a semi-private pool from their terrace — the most distinctive room category. Corner suites include in-room jacuzzis. All rooms are suites at this 444-unit property — there are no standard room categories here.
