The Iberostar Selection Praia do Forte opened in 2008 and renovated in 2016, placing it directly on the beach at Praia do Forte, Bahia — a village turned eco-tourism destination on Brazil's northeast coast. Salvador's Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport (SSA) is about 62 minutes away (35–60 miles). The resort sits within a nature reserve, and the TAMAR Project — Brazil's national sea turtle monitoring and conservation station — operates at the same location. Guests can observe turtle research activities on-site, a feature that's genuinely unusual for a mass-market all-inclusive.
The dining program is one of the stronger in the Iberostar portfolio outside of Mexico and the Caribbean. Five specialty à la carte restaurants operate alongside the main 24-hour buffet: Bistrô Do Lago (French/gourmet, age 8+), Novecento (Italian with outdoor terrace), Mai Tai (Asian with teppanyaki), Maresia (Mexican), and Odoiá (traditional Bahian — the most locally distinctive option, with coconut shrimp stew and salt-cured filet mignon). All specialty venues require reservations and operate on the smart casual dress standard. Book at check-in or earlier using the app — specialty reservations fill across all days.
The resort's aquatic setup includes five distinct pool types: two outdoor infinity pools, an activity pool with swim-up bar, a children's pool, an Aqua Fun water park splash area, and an indoor heated pool. The heated indoor pool is practical year-round — Bahia's rainy season (April–June, heavier in August–September) can make outdoor conditions intermittent. The Aquafun Water Park includes slides and water toys for family use.
The 18-hole golf course designed by P.B. Dye has nine holes with ocean views. It operates at extra charge. Surfing lessons are available at additional cost — Praia do Forte has consistent Atlantic surf, different from the Caribbean calm that most Iberostar properties offer. The two-story fitness center serves guests 16 and older with daily classes in yoga, Pilates, TRX, and functional training.
Star Camp covers Monkeys (4–6), Dolphins (7–12), and Eagles (13–15) from 9 AM to 6 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM daily. Spa Kids and Spa Baby treatments are available at extra charge — specific light massages and facial care designed for children and infants, which are genuinely rare amenities in the resort spa category. The resort grounds are large enough that guests consistently report significant walking distances; mobility-impaired guests should note that paved surfaces are irregular in some areas.
