Iberostar Selection Es Trenc is effectively a new hotel. It reopened in April 2025 after a complete renovation under a different brand's name, now carrying the Iberostar Selection flag and a design identity built around the property's proximity to the salt flats and coastline of southern Mallorca. Every one of the up to 198 rooms has a sea-view balcony — this isn't a property where some guests get garden views while others get water. The starting room size is 194 square feet, compact by international luxury standards but standard for this tier in Mallorca.
The sustainability angle is genuine rather than decorative: 100% renewable electricity, zero single-use plastics across the property, and filtered water stations throughout the building that replace bottled water in rooms. The Salivent Mediterranean restaurant's menu actively reflects responsible sourcing — seasonal vegetables, locally harvested salt from the Es Trenc flats, and responsibly sourced fish.
The property is not a family entertainment resort. The programming leans toward couples and adults — sunrise yoga on the rooftop, open cinema nights, cocktail making classes, and the rooftop bar's DJ sessions are the entertainment anchors. Children are technically welcome, but there's no dedicated kids' club. Teens and adults with an interest in natural settings, sustainability, and Mallorcan culture will be well served. Families with young children seeking structured activities should look elsewhere.
The pools are an unusual design: the main pool is 'sail-shaped' and divided into two connected sections that are narrow for lap swimming but atmospheric for leisure. The rooftop infinity pool is the more visually dramatic option with panoramic sea views and bar service. Es Trenc beach itself — one of Mallorca's finest stretches of sand — is 1 km away, reachable by bike (rentals available at €11/day) or a 15–20 minute walk.
