Iberostar Selection Coral Bávaro opened in December 2019 as the premium tier within the larger Iberostar Bávaro complex. The model is straightforward: 162 suites with dedicated facilities (private check-in, exclusive infinity pool, reserved beach area with Bali beds) inside a complex that spans three Iberostar properties, giving Coral guests access to roughly 25 dining venues and all the shared amenities without the crowds that come with larger all-inclusive blocks.
The private infinity pool sits directly on the beach — the most architecturally distinct feature of the property. The reserved beach area with Bali beds means Coral guests have a defined space that doesn't require 5 AM towel-placing to secure. These two features make the price premium tangible for couples.
The resort works for families despite its couples-first positioning — it has dedicated family junior suites and full Star Camp access through the main complex for children 4–17. But the primary market is couples or adults who want a premium experience without booking a boutique property. The trade-off is that 'within a complex' means you're sharing public areas of the wider Iberostar Bávaro site with far more guests from the neighboring properties.
Salt & Soul is Coral Bávaro's signature restaurant — avant-garde seafood with Caribbean influences, cooked in a coconut coal oven. This is genuinely distinctive for Punta Cana, where most resort seafood is grilled or fried. El Faro transitions from buffet at breakfast and lunch to an a la carte Haute Cuisine menu at dinner, all without requiring reservations for Coral guests. Access to the full complex's specialty restaurants (La Sibila French, Kabuki Japanese, La Dorada Mediterranean, Maria Bonita Mexican across multiple properties) broadens the dining considerably.
