Overview

Saidia sits on Morocco's Mediterranean coast at the Algerian border — not the most obvious all-inclusive destination, which is exactly what makes Iberostar Saidia worth considering for travelers who want to experience Moroccan culture while staying at a conventional all-inclusive. The architecture uses Berber design cues throughout: carved plasterwork, zellige tile, pointed arches — more than cosmetic theming. The 14 km beach directly in front is classified Blue Flag, calm, and backed by views of the Beni Snassen Mountains.

This works well for families who want a structured, safe environment and a beach without strong surf. The Star Camp program runs ages 4–17 with three groups, and children's meals are included in the evening, giving parents real space. The Aliveness program targets adults who want wellness-oriented activities rather than the standard poolside animation loop. What it is not: a party resort or a high-energy destination for groups expecting nightlife and late bar hours.

The most documented operational problem is spa facility reliability. Multiple guest reports across recent seasons mention non-functional jacuzzis and saunas — a significant issue given the extra charge for spa access. Confirm spa facilities are operational at check-in before buying spa packages. The main buffet (Oujda Restaurant) also generates complaints about repetition, particularly for protein variety. The three specialty restaurants — Oki (Japanese teppanyaki), Fez (Moroccan), and Marrakech (Mediterranean seafood) — require reservations and are where the food quality noticeably improves.

Practically: 485 rooms including Junior Suite Beachfront and Presidential Suite categories. All-inclusive covers meals, local beverages, and main activities. Tennis, golf (3 km away), water sports, catamaran, diving, and kitesurfing are extra charge. Transfer from Oujda Angads Airport (OUD) is 45–50 minutes.

Saidia's medina, souk (especially Sunday market), and Alcazaba are walkable from the resort — an unusual advantage for an all-inclusive that usually traps guests on-site. Budget a half-day to explore rather than leaving it for the last day.

Pros

  • +Direct access to a 14 km Blue Flag Mediterranean beach with genuinely calm water — one of the longest stretches of accessible beach at any Iberostar property
  • +The Fez Moroccan restaurant is a legitimate cultural dining experience, not a token 'local food' gesture
  • +Walking access to Saidia's medina and Sunday souk gives the resort an off-property dimension most all-inclusives lack

Cons

  • −Spa facilities (jacuzzi, sauna) have a documented pattern of being non-operational without notice — verify before buying spa access packages
  • −Main buffet food quality and protein variety are persistently criticized; plan to use specialty restaurants most evenings to avoid buffet fatigue

Tips

  • Book Fez and Marrakech restaurant reservations immediately on arrival — they fill fast in peak season and are the main dining upgrade over the buffet
  • Schedule at least one Sunday in Saidia to visit the weekly souk — it runs within walking distance of the resort and is a genuine market, not a tourist setup
  • Ask the reception to confirm which spa facilities are currently operational before paying for a spa package — this is not a guarantee the brochure covers
