The bowling alley is the first differentiator that separates Iberostar Playa Gaviotas from the other large all-inclusives on the Jandía peninsula. It's a small detail, but it matters on a rainy afternoon or for families with teenagers who've exhausted the pool. The second differentiator is the Star Prestige program: an adults-only (15+) upgrade that gets you a private infinity pool overlooking the sand, a VIP lounge, and an open bar with premium brands — a genuinely separate experience within the same property.
The resort serves a dual audience: families who want beach access, multiple pools, and a proper kids' club (Star Camp, three age groups, 4–17); and couples who want the Star Prestige adults-only zone without paying for a purely adults resort. It works better for families than for couples-only travel. The 355 rooms mean the property is large enough to feel anonymous during peak season unless you've upgraded.
The main drawback is one that guests have been flagging consistently since before the 2014 renovation: rooms in the standard categories are dated. Thin walls and worn furnishings are documented in reviews. The 2014 refresh didn't address all rooms equally, so asking for a recently renovated room at check-in is worth doing. Beach loungers on Jandía Beach also cost extra — the AI package doesn't include them.
Practically: 355 rooms, all-inclusive, 62–86 km from Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) with a transfer of up to 90 minutes by bus or about 70 minutes by car. Spa Sensations has a Turkish bath, hot tub, sauna, and an indoor pool. Access to the hydrotherapy circuit is a paid extra. The beach itself — Jandía — is 25 km of fine, pale sand with strong Atlantic swells; it's beautiful but not ideal for weak swimmers.
