The Iberostar Herceg Novi opened June 2018 following a full renovation of an existing property. It occupies a terraced hillside at the mouth of the Bay of Kotor, which means two things: the views are genuinely dramatic — layers of mountain, bay, and Adriatic visible from most balconies — and accessing different parts of the resort involves stairs. Mobility-impaired guests should inquire specifically about step-free routes before booking.
The resort's setting is its strongest differentiator. Most Adriatic resorts at this price point sit on flat coast; Iberostar Herceg Novi's terraced position on a promontory puts the water within steps of most rooms. The private shingle beach (not sand — the Adriatic coast here is predominantly pebble and rock) comes with free sun loungers and floating sea platforms for swimming. The water quality is consistently praised.
The closest airports are Dubrovnik (DBV) at 30–60 minutes depending on border wait times, and Tivat (TIV) at 60–75 minutes. The border crossing between Croatia and Montenegro at Debeli Brijeg is the wildcard in journey time — it can add an hour during summer peaks.
This property suits couples and families who want a relaxed, nature-forward Mediterranean holiday rather than an entertainment-heavy beach resort. The all-inclusive program is basic by Caribbean standards: one buffet restaurant, four bars, and afternoon snacks. There are no specialty à la carte restaurants. The Star Camp kids' club handles children 4–17 in age-segmented groups, and the boat shuttle to Herceg Novi town is a practical way to explore the Old Town and surrounding area without renting a car.
