Panormo sits on Crete's northern coast roughly halfway between Heraklion and Chania — about an hour from either airport. Iberostar Creta Panorama & Mare sits on a rocky coastline with direct access to two private coves, which separates it from resorts on sandy beaches. The coves are scenic, the water is clear Aegean, and snorkeling from them is genuinely worthwhile. The trade-off: guests who specifically want a long sandy beach to walk will find the rocky coastal setting less suitable.
The resort has been building toward a significant 2025–2026 transformation. The Monkey mini-club and kids' pools were renovated in 2025, and a new water park is scheduled to open May 13, 2026. If you're traveling with children after that date, this is a materially different property than it was before. Seven pools including a heated indoor pool make this a year-round capable resort even in shoulder season.
Four restaurants including Zorbas Greek Tavern are the dining backbone. The Greek Tavern serves as the authentic local option — it offers à la carte dinner service twice weekly with dishes like gemista (stuffed tomatoes) and gyros. L'Oliveto is a new-for-2025 Italian addition that's received strong early reviews for its pizza and pasta. The main buffet is well-regarded for variety and execution.
This resort works for families with a range across age groups — the Star Camp covers Monkey (4–7), Dolphin (8–12), and Eagle (13–17). Staff quality is the most-praised element in guest feedback, often cited over the facilities.
