Playa de Muro is genuinely one of the better family beaches in Mallorca — long, sandy, and with shallow water that stays calm for most of the season — and Iberostar Alcudia Park sits directly on it. That beachfront access is the main reason to choose this property over comparable resorts further inland or in the busier Alcudia town area. The 2018 renovation brought the rooms and common areas up to a modern standard; this isn't an aging property operating on 1980s infrastructure despite opening in 1986.
The resort works best for families with children up to about 15. The Star Camp runs structured programming split into two groups — Monkey (ages 4–7, available year-round) and Dolphin (8–12, high season only) — and the Eagle teen club covers 13–17 year olds in July and August. The children's pool and Aquafun splash area give younger kids their own water zone. Couples or adult groups looking for a quieter experience should either book the Star Prestige tier (which has exclusive rooftop access) or choose a different property altogether.
The main drawback is practical: sun lounger competition. Guests reserving chairs with towels before breakfast is a documented pattern here, and the resort's anti-toweling policies aren't consistently enforced. If you're not at the pool by 8am in peak season, you'll be searching for a spot. A second note: the beach loungers are not included in the all-inclusive rate — you pay extra for umbrella and chair rental on Playa de Muro, which is a city beach.
With 366 rooms and five pool zones (including an indoor pool and the Star Prestige rooftop), the resort has enough spread to absorb its capacity during peak summer. It's 43–65 km from Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) — budget roughly 45–60 minutes depending on road conditions in high season. S'Albufera Natural Park, one of the largest wetland reserves in the Balearics, is a 15-minute walk from the property — a useful half-day trip for naturalist guests.
