What separates Hyatt Vivid from the other all-inclusives along this stretch of Playa del Carmen is its walkability. Fifth Avenue — the pedestrianized strip of restaurants, shops, and bars that defines life in PDC — is literally steps from the resort gate. Most all-inclusives in Mexico put guests on a bus to reach town; here you walk five minutes. That access to a real, functioning city is the reason to choose this property over a more isolated resort further up the coast.
This is an adults-only property (18+) for couples and solo travelers who want a structured all-inclusive base with the option to break out into the city at will. It is not the right choice for anyone who wants a large-scale resort with multiple pools and beach clubs spread across sprawling grounds — Hyatt Vivid is compact by design. Guests who show up expecting a Cancun hotel zone mega-resort will find it smaller than expected.
The most consistent complaint in guest reviews is the beach. The stretch directly in front of the resort is rocky and not particularly swimmable. You can walk north along the sand roughly 100 meters to reach a sandy-bottom area, and the resort does offer Beach Butler service with cold towels and chairs, but if beach swimming is your primary priority, this is not the optimal property. The oceanfront pools compensate somewhat, but reviewers who came specifically for beach access frequently flag this disappointment.
The resort holds 524 suites across 11 categories — every room type, including the entry-level Junior Suite at 653 square feet, includes a double-jetted tub, private balcony or terrace, and a daily refreshed minibar. Dining covers 9 restaurants and 7 bars with no reservation requirements at most venues, though Chef's Plate (the haute cuisine experience with a daily-changing menu) requires a reservation and may carry an additional charge for some suite categories. The property sits about 45 to 50 minutes from Cancun International Airport by car.
For comparison shoppers: the Rosewood Mayakoba offers more beach, more space, and more exclusivity at a significantly higher price point. The Sandos Caracol is a good alternative for those who want a larger, more resort-centric experience. Hyatt Vivid's edge is the PDC location and the all-suite room standard — you simply get more space per room dollar here than at most competitors at this price tier.
