Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle is one of the newest large-scale all-inclusive properties in the Caribbean, having opened in May 2024 on Falmouth's White Bay Beach. Being brand-new matters: the rooms, pools, and infrastructure carry no maintenance backlog, which shows in early guest reviews that consistently flag cleanliness as a standout. Riu also made this one of its first Caribbean properties to integrate solar energy, which is a genuine sustainability step rather than marketing language.
The strongest case for this resort over other Riu Caribbean options is Pepe's Food — a poolside jerk grill serving freshly cooked jerk chicken and pork with festival bread. At most resorts, 'local cuisine' means a themed buffet night. Here it's a dedicated outdoor station with Jamaican technique and product. That's a meaningful difference for guests who care about food as part of the travel experience.
Falmouth's beach reality requires honest framing. White Bay Beach has ice-white sand and is visually striking, but some areas near the shoreline have rocks, and seaweed clearing has been inconsistently managed in early reviews. The Splash Water World water park on property partially compensates — six pools including a children's slide complex means aquatic options extend beyond ocean swimming.
With 753 rooms, this is a genuinely large resort. The scale means peak meal periods at the main buffet can feel crowded, and the Riu Party circuit (accessing events at the nearby Hotel Riu Ocho Rios) involves organizing transportation. Airport transfer from Sangster International (MBJ) in Montego Bay takes 30–60 minutes depending on traffic and convoy timing.
