Dining Variety & Quality
A common point of feedback relates to the food, with guests desiring more variety and improved quality, sometimes finding options limited or bland.
Service Speed & Staffing
While staff are excellent, occasional understaffing, particularly at bars, can lead to slower service, embodying a relaxed 'island time' pace.
Sargassum Seaweed Impact
The presence of sargassum seaweed on the beach can sometimes affect swimming, create an unpleasant smell, and lead to temporary beach closures.
Limited Outdoor Seating & Shade
Guests sometimes note a lack of comfortable outdoor seating beyond standard pool loungers and a desire for more pre-set shaded options on the beach.

Divi Carina Bay holds a niche no other resort on St. Croix occupies: adults-only (18+), all-inclusive, with a casino, on a private beach. If that combination is what you're after, there's no alternative on this island. The 2021 renovation gave the 180 rooms a Caribbean chic update — clean lines, modern bathrooms, and a design that's a step up from what the older photos showed.
The resort attracts a 50s-and-60s demographic during slower periods, couples on anniversary and milestone trips, and U.S. travelers who want a USVI destination without the passport requirement. It is not a good fit for anyone expecting the entertainment programming of a Punta Cana mega-resort, or guests who prioritize dining variety above all else — the all-inclusive food program covers four restaurants, and returning guests consistently note that options feel repetitive by day four or five.
Honest drawback: the food. Waves Marketplace handles breakfast and themed dinner buffets, Oceans Bar & Grill covers poolside lunch, and Tuscany Restaurant handles Italian dinner. The themes cycle, and repeat guests find the rotation limited. The casino's Carina Café is the only late-night food option, but it falls outside the all-inclusive package. This is the most common complaint in recent reviews.
Practically: 180 rooms across beachfront categories and hillside suites. The hillside one-bedroom suites at 827 sq ft are the best value for couples who want space. The east end location is genuinely quieter than Christiansted — a 20–30 minute drive from Henry E. Rohlsen Airport. The private 1,000-foot beach is calm and good for swimming, though water shoes are recommended due to rocks and shells near the shoreline. The casino is on-site but not integrated into the all-inclusive program — gambling is extra.
