Couples Swept Away built its identity around a claim that no other Negril resort can match: Jamaica's largest sports and fitness complex at 10 acres, directly across from the main resort. The complex runs tennis, squash, racquetball, a lap pool, a full fitness center, and a full schedule of group classes. This is not a token amenity — it's the core differentiator. If you're choosing between Couples Swept Away and Couples Negril, the Negril beach experience is comparable, but Swept Away wins on sports infrastructure by a significant margin.
This is not the right resort for couples who want silence and a spa-forward experience — that's Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios. Swept Away's 312 rooms on Seven Mile Beach attract active couples who want beach access and organized sports without the administrative overhead of booking courts and equipment separately. The all-inclusive covers PADI-certified scuba diving and golf green fees, which are the two most significant value inclusions in the Negril market. Opened in 1990, renovated in 2006, and EarthCheck certified.
The dining program gets mixed reception. Feathers (the gourmet continental restaurant) and Lemon Grass (Thai) earn strong marks and reservations fill quickly; the main buffet at The Palms is more variable. Seven restaurants total provide more variety than most Negril all-inclusives, but food consistency is not a universal strength. The Oasis Spa has eight treatment rooms and outdoor options including a Buddha plunge pool — it's not the Charlie Spa at Sans Souci, but it's a proper facility.
Practical context: Sangster International Airport (MBJ) is 90 minutes with complimentary roundtrip transfers. The resort sits on Negril's Long Bay section of Seven Mile Beach — the water is calm, the sand is white, and the beach is the backdrop rather than the main event here. Custom mini-bars are included in rooms, which is an unusual inclusion.
