Exceptional G.O. Team
The G.O.s are universally praised for their dedication, enthusiasm, and for creating a friendly, engaging atmosphere integral to the Club Med experience with lively shows and activities.
Diverse Activities & Kids' Programs
An extensive range of land and water sports, from flying trapeze to kayaking, coupled with excellent dedicated kids' clubs, ensures entertainment for all ages and allows for both family bonding and individual pursuits.
Abundant Food & Drink
The continuous availability of diverse, high-quality international and local cuisine, along with free-flow alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day, significantly contributes to a worry-free holiday experience.
Lush Jungle Setting & Zen Pool
The resort's immersive natural environment provides a serene escape amidst nature, complemented by the adults-only Zen Pool offering tranquil relaxation with beautiful ocean views.
Outdated Room Condition
Guests should manage expectations regarding room amenities and spaciousness as the facilities are consistently described as old, worn, and may suffer from weak air conditioning and poor soundproofing.
Limited Ocean Swimming
The most significant caution is the restriction on swimming in the main sea due to safety concerns like strong currents and sudden drop-offs, potentially disappointing guests expecting a typical beach swimming holiday.
Monkey Presence
While part of the natural charm, the active presence of monkeys requires vigilance; guests must be diligent about keeping doors and windows closed to prevent them from entering rooms and taking food.
Heat in Dining Areas
The lack of air conditioning in some parts of the main Mutiara buffet restaurant can make dining uncomfortable, especially during peak hours in the tropical climate.

Green Globe
Club Med Cherating Beach has the strongest identity of any Club Med in Southeast Asia. It's the original Asian Club Med (opened 1979), it's built on stilts in an 80-hectare jungle, and it's maintained Green Globe Platinum certification for over a decade — meaning environmental sustainability is operational practice, not a marketing claim. The resort's rock climbing on natural formations is the only such Club Med offering in the region, and the jungle setting gives the property a genuinely distinctive atmosphere that no other Club Med in Asia replicates.
This resort suits couples and active families who want a tropical immersion experience rather than a polished beach resort. The jungle-meets-coast setting is atmospheric, but it comes with trade-offs: wooden stilt construction means noise travels between rooms, air conditioning can be inconsistent, and the main beach is not suitable for swimming due to currents and a sharp drop-off. If you're coming for ocean swimming, this is not the right property. If you want rock climbing, flying trapeze, jungle walks, and turtle sanctuary access, the combination is hard to replicate elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
The clearest honest limitation is room quality. Reviews consistently flag the accommodation as dated — small rooms, worn furnishings, and stilted construction that amplifies sound from neighboring rooms. The 2004 refurbishment is the last major upgrade, and it shows. Management appears aware of this — reviews indicate incremental improvements to public areas, but room quality lags behind the activity and food programs.
The resort covers 297 rooms in a jungle setting, with Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport (KUA) roughly 45–60 minutes away. The Mandara-managed spa is one of the largest in the Club Med portfolio at 3,750 sq m, with 8 treatment spaces including beach cabanas — genuinely good infrastructure for a spa-focused stay. The Zen Pool is adults-only and saltwater, with panoramic South China Sea views from the cliff.
