Hidden All-Inclusive Costs
Guests should be aware that many features, like the Olympic pool, à la carte restaurants, spa, and room safe, incur extra charges not covered by the 'all-inclusive' rate.
Resort Size and Location
The large resort is somewhat isolated from Costa Teguise's main center, requiring transport to explore town or reach larger sandy beaches.
Dining Hall Congestion
Buffet restaurants can become very busy and crowded during peak times, leading to queues and difficulty finding tables.
Inconsistent Maintenance
Occasional reports of room maintenance issues (e.g., broken locks, cold rooms) and rare insect sightings suggest inconsistent upkeep in some areas.
Sunbed Availability Issues
The persistent problem of guests reserving sunbeds early in the morning can lead to frustration for others seeking poolside relaxation.

The Fun Lab
Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort's identity is built around fitness infrastructure that goes well beyond the standard gym-and-tennis all-inclusive offering. The centerpiece is a 10-lane heated Olympic pool used for competitive training that guests can access (€3.50 per session). Alongside it: a professional cycling center with Wahoo KICKR simulators, a Hypoxia Room that simulates altitude up to 4,000m for acclimatization training, Les Mills 24/7 fitness programming, and a Deluxe Sports Room category that comes with a private TRX suspension training area and personal sauna in the room. This is genuinely the sports-focused all-inclusive that cycling clubs, triathletes, and fitness-oriented travelers have been looking for in the Canaries.
For guests who don't train at that level, the resort still functions as a conventional four-star all-inclusive with 659 rooms, a good beach access, and a solid dining program. KOI's Asian fusion and La Dolce Vita's wood-fired pizza are above all-inclusive standard. The adults-only Royal Level area gives non-sporting couples a quieter alternative to the training-focused main facilities.
The resort suits serious athletes training in Lanzarote's consistent 20-25°C climate, cycling groups who need a base near the island's famous cols, and fitness-minded guests who want to maintain or build fitness on vacation rather than just maintain. Guests who want a pure beach-relaxation holiday should consider the Barceló Fuerteventura complex instead — the sports identity here is pervasive.
The beach situation is Cala del Ancla, which is pebbly rather than sandy. Water shoes make entry significantly more comfortable. The pools — including the main outdoor pool complex — are the swimming venue of choice for most guests. Costa Teguise is a pleasant, quieter resort town compared to Puerto del Carmen, but the resort itself sits slightly away from the center, so town access requires a taxi or a walk.
Lanzarote Airport (ACE) is 11-15 km away, a 15-20 minute transfer.
