Exceptional Beach and Location
Guests consistently laud the stunning Bávaro Beach for its beauty, cleanliness, clear water, and ample lounge chairs, making its direct beachfront access a major draw.
Access to Grand Resort Amenities
The significant benefit of accessing the extensive facilities of the Barceló Bávaro Palace greatly expands dining and entertainment options beyond the Adults-Only section.
Friendly and Attentive Staff
While service can be inconsistent, many guests specifically praise individual staff members for their friendliness, professionalism, and helpfulness.
Cleanliness of Grounds and Pools
The resort maintains high standards of cleanliness across common areas, grounds, and pools, which guests frequently highlight as very well-kept.
Tranquil Adults-Only Vibe
The adults-only section offers a quiet, exclusive, and romantic atmosphere, perfect for couples seeking relaxation away from family activities.
Dated Room Condition
The most significant recurring concern is the outdated nature of rooms and bathrooms, with guests noting the need for renovation and minor maintenance issues.
Inconsistent Food Quality at A la Carte Restaurants
Guests are frequently cautioned that specialty restaurants may offer lower quality or less variety compared to the buffets, often described as average or bland.
Service Gaps and Responsiveness
Despite generally friendly staff, guests report frustrations with unorganized service, slow drink delivery, and occasional missed housekeeping tasks.
Limited Entertainment on Adults-Only Side
Guests seeking a vibrant party atmosphere might find activities lacking on the Adults-Only side, requiring trips to the Palace for more lively options.

The Barceló Bávaro Beach - Adults Only is an unusual product: a 589-room adults-only resort that is physically attached to — and fully integrated with — the much larger, family-friendly Barceló Bávaro Palace next door. The adults-only section has its own pool, dedicated restaurants, and quieter atmosphere. But guests can also board a free train to the Palace side at any time, accessing a casino, bowling alley, Grand Teatro Bávaro (Las Vegas-style production shows), seven additional à la carte restaurants, and two more pools. For guests who want adult-only peace with access to full-resort variety, this hybrid model is genuinely practical.
The resort targets couples, honeymooners, and adult friend groups who want Bávaro Beach — consistently ranked among the world's top beaches for its soft white sand and reef-protected turquoise water — without navigating around children all day. The adults-only side is notably quieter, particularly the pool and beach areas. That said, the vibe on the adults-only side during busy periods can still feel lively rather than truly serene, especially if the Palace-side pool becomes crowded and guests migrate across.
The honest limitation is room quality. The property opened in 1985 and underwent a significant renovation in 2012, but enough time has passed that dated rooms, worn bathrooms, and dust are recurring complaints. Some guests describe a 4–5 hour wait for rooms at check-in. The à la carte restaurants on the adults-only side receive mixed reviews — guests generally report the buffet outperforms the specialty dining, which is the opposite of what you'd expect from a higher-tier property.
Key logistics: Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is 11–12 miles away, a 16–20 minute drive. The free shuttle train between the adults-only side and the Palace runs frequently throughout the day. Merengue, salsa, and bachata dance lessons are included — a standout cultural touch in a region where most all-inclusives offer generic animation. The championship P.B. Dye-designed golf course requires additional fees.
