The headline feature here isn't the apartments themselves — it's the access arrangement. AluaSun Mediterráneo sits within a cluster of three Alua properties in S'Algar, and guests get access to facilities across all three: the activity program at Alua Illa de Menorca, and the Purobeach Menorca Oasis del Mar beach club at the adults-only AluaSoul Menorca next door. For a 3-star apartment complex, that's a significant add-on that isn't reflected in the base price.
The property itself is a 72-apartment complex renovated in 2020. Apartments run 527-538 sq ft — genuinely spacious for the category — and include kitchenettes, private terraces, and basic kitchen kit. Bungalow-style units have direct pool access from the terrace. The complex is quiet in the way that small aparthotels in the eastern stretch of Menorca tend to be: it's not a party resort, and the reviews consistently reflect that. Guests who want a calm base with independence over meal timing find this setup works well.
The airport (MAH) is 17-18 minutes by car — a short transfer by any island standard. That's relevant because Menorca's eastern coast, where S'Algar sits, is less trafficked than the resort belt further west. The area is greener and quieter, which is either an asset or a limitation depending on what you're after.
Beach access is imperfect. The property is 100m from the sea and 400m from a rocky cove with sunbathing platforms. For sand, Cala Alcaufar is a 15-minute walk and Punta Prima is a 10-minute drive with complimentary transfers. Neither beach is directly adjacent, and the rocky coastline here isn't the fine-sand experience found on Menorca's south or west coasts. Guests with young children should note this and factor in the beach transfer logistics.
Dining on-site covers the basics: Terra Café handles breakfast and dinner buffet, La Trattoria does à la carte Italian lunch and dinner (included in all-inclusive, reservation required), and the Pool Bar covers midday snacks. The buffet draws mixed reviews — adequate for one week, repetitive for two. The à la carte option partly compensates. For more variety, the Purobeach beach club and AluaSoul's dining are accessible across the complex.
The kids' club (Astro Club, ages 4-12) runs daily June-August, six days a week. Evening entertainment runs three times a week, primarily in Spanish. Guests who need multilingual programming should set that expectation accordingly.
