AluaSun Far Menorca is a small self-catering aparthotel of 34 units, but guests effectively get access to a much larger resort: the neighboring AluaSoul Menorca and Alua Illa de Menorca share their pools, restaurants, bars, and activity programs with Far Menorca guests. That arrangement is the main reason to book here — you pay apartment prices and get access to a multi-hotel complex without being locked into a full-board all-inclusive rate.
The setting in S'Algar (also called Cala'n Forcat in some listings) sits on Menorca's quieter western coast. The hotel is 100m from the sea and a short walk from Cala Alcaufar, a calm cove suitable for swimming and snorkeling. The S'Algar location is secluded, which appeals to guests who want a genuine retreat, but is a limitation for those expecting to walk to shops or restaurants — a rental car is effectively required here. The nearest town of consequence is Ciutadella, about 15 minutes' drive.
The on-site spa is the standout feature for a small 2-star property: two treatment rooms, a sauna, and a hot tub operating daily. Additional spa access at AluaSoul Menorca (sauna, steam bath, hot tub) extends the wellness offering further, though at extra charge. Guests seeking spa access without paying 5-star resort prices will find this a reasonable proposition.
The primary practical limitation is check-in: it happens at AluaSoul Menorca, 500m from the Far Menorca property. First-time arrivals who don't know this find it disorienting, especially arriving late or with luggage. The 2021 renovation updated air conditioning, which addressed a previous complaint. Housekeeping frequency is inconsistently reported — confirm the schedule at check-in if daily service matters. Kitchen essentials (salt, oil, tea, coffee) are not supplied; bring basics or plan a market stop.
Airport transfer from Menorca (MAH) is roughly 12–13 km but takes around an hour due to road conditions and Menorcan traffic patterns. The hotel open season is May–October. Dogs under 10 kg are accepted at €30 per night.
