The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta is getting a complete overhaul, transforming into The Westin Playa Vallarta — the brand's first all-inclusive resort in Mexico. The property is set to reopen in May 2026 after a multi-million dollar renovation that has been underway for the past year.

The 14-acre oceanfront property near Marina Vallarta will feature 281 reimagined suites, including 30 private plunge pool suites and 16 swim-up rooms. The food and beverage program is being expanded to 10 culinary and entertainment venues, ranging from an open-air, botany-inspired cocktail lounge to artisanal retail experiences.

On the wellness side, the resort will debut its Heavenly Spa with separate men's and women's lounges, hydrotherapy circuits, plunge pools, and massage jets. New recreational amenities include refreshed family and adult pools, plus pickleball and padel courts.

A Growing All-Inclusive Push

The conversion is part of Marriott's broader push into the all-inclusive space, which has accelerated in recent years. The company already operates all-inclusive properties under several brands, and the Westin conversion signals that even traditionally room-only brands see value in the all-inclusive model.

Puerto Vallarta's hotel market is already competitive, with properties like Marriott Puerto Vallarta, Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, and Hilton Vallarta Riviera all operating in the all-inclusive segment. Adding the Westin brand to that lineup raises the bar for upscale travelers who want the all-inclusive convenience without sacrificing the polish they expect from Westin.
