This Hotel Giant Just Added Its First New Outdoor Brand in a Year — On 180 Acres of Desert
Reset Hotel near Joshua Tree is the first brand to join Marriott's Outdoor Collection since it launched, with stargazing led by former NASA astronomers.
Marriott International has added a new name to its Outdoor Collection for the first time since the platform launched, bringing a 65-room desert retreat near Joshua Tree National Park into the fold.
The property, called Reset Hotel, sits on 180 acres in Twentynine Palms, California, near the park's north entrance. It becomes the first new brand to join Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy since the collection debuted in 2025, joining Trailborn and Postcard Cabins, the roughly 1,200-cabin operator Marriott acquired in late 2024.
Reset leans hard into its setting. Guest rooms feature natural textures, desert views and private patios with fire pits, daybeds and stargazing platforms. Shared amenities include outdoor soaking tubs, communal fire pits, a saltwater pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna and a cold plunge. The standout is the programming: guests can join stargazing sessions using Celestron telescopes and astronomy events led by former NASA astronomers, plus creative residencies built around the landscape.
The move reflects a broader race for outdoor and nature-focused stays. Hilton has been expanding its partnership with luxury glamping brand AutoCamp, and BWH Hotels recently launched its own collection of upscale outdoor accommodations. For Marriott, the appeal is a design-forward product that captures travelers who want immersion in nature without giving up hotel comforts, room-night economics that increasingly rival its traditional brands.
It also fits a company that has been widening its leisure footprint on several fronts at once. Alongside its outdoor push, Marriott has been building out beach and all-inclusive resorts through its Marriott All-Inclusive Resorts portfolio, chasing the same experience-hungry traveler from the California desert to the Caribbean coast.
