Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Adds Outdoor Jacuzzis and a Water Park for November

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana has shared fresh details on its $40 million renovation as the November 5, 2026 reopening approaches. The Majestic Resorts flagship in Playa Bávaro is rebuilding both its family wing and The Club adults-only section, turning a two-decade-old workhorse into a more modern all-inclusive for Punta Cana travelers.

More than 600 guest rooms are getting full bathroom rebuilds, indoor bathtubs, and outdoor Jacuzzis. That is a meaningful change for guests who book family categories and expect outdoor soaking space without jumping to a suite-only brand. Thirty rooms are also being converted into a new Family Suite (Outdoor Jacuzzi) category at about 1,025 square feet, sleeping up to six with a king bedroom, Murphy beds, a sofa bed, two restrooms, and a private outdoor Jacuzzi.

What changes for families and couples

The resort will keep its split personality: an all-ages Family Section and The Club for guests 18 and older. Families get the bigger news with the suite conversion and a new Caribbean Water Park inspired by Los Haitises National Park, complete with multiple slides, a lazy river, and age-separated zones. Couples and adult groups keep The Club as a quieter base while still tapping shared dining and grounds.

  • New Toscana Italian restaurant with an outdoor terrace
  • Fully renovated Taíno Mexican restaurant, also adding outdoor terrace seating
  • Supreme International Buffet Restaurant rebuilt from the ground up
  • Multi-zone Caribbean Water Park with slides and a lazy river

How to plan around the November 5 reopen

Majestic Colonial originally opened as the brand's first Dominican Republic flagship more than twenty years ago. Closing for a renovation this deep usually means the first months after reopen are when inventory and ops settle. If you need guaranteed Family Suite inventory or water-park access for school-break travel, book early once the calendar opens and confirm whether your category sits in the Family Section or The Club.

Guest-first so-what: this is not a soft refresh. Every room bathroom is new, outdoor Jacuzzis become standard rather than rare, and the water park gives families a reason to choose Colonial over neighboring Majestic Mirage or Elegance stays. Adult travelers who preferred The Club before should still verify post-renovation quiet hours and pool access, because a new family water park on the same campus can change the daytime feel even when sleeping wings stay separate.

Sister properties such as Majestic Elegance Punta Cana and Majestic Mirage Punta Cana remain alternatives while Colonial finishes construction. For travelers who specifically want the renovated Colonial product, put November 5 on the calendar and watch for opening rates once Majestic publishes them.
