Hilton has opened The Margot Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter as one of the first properties under its newly launched Outset Collection, an upscale lifestyle brand targeting independent, design-forward hotels with a strong sense of place.

Located in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp neighborhood, the all-suite boutique hotel offers 135 residential-style units with fully equipped kitchens, open floor plans, and what Hilton describes as a California-inspired modern aesthetic. Long Beach-based Ensemble manages the property.

The hotel leans into a personified brand identity, with guests receiving local dining and experience recommendations from "Margot" herself. An eighth-floor terrace features a fire pit, outdoor dining, and lounge seating, while a lobby bar serving curated cocktails is slated to open soon.

A Fast-Growing Collection

The Margot joins a rapidly expanding portfolio. Outset Collection launched in October 2025, and already has more than 60 hotels in various stages of development across the U.S. The Slackline Moab in Utah and the ACME Hotel Chicago were the first to open under the brand late last year.

Hilton has been aggressively expanding its collection brands. In addition to Outset, the company debuted its Apartment Collection in January through a partnership with Placemakr, and launched Select by Hilton in March through an exclusive franchise agreement with Yotel. Kevin Osterhaus, president of lifestyle brands at Hilton, has called collection brands a massive opportunity for the company.

The pet-friendly property also features valet parking, local food delivery, a 24-hour front desk and fitness center, and eco-friendly touches throughout.
