This Former Cancun All-Inclusive Is Reopening Under Hilton — and a Spanish Brand Is Making Its Mexico Debut
Hilton is converting the former Breathless Cancun into Amare Cancun, an adults-only all-inclusive with 429 ocean-view rooms and two rooftop pools, opening Oct. 31.
Hilton is adding another adults-only all-inclusive to Cancun's Hotel Zone, and it comes with a name most American travelers have never heard. Amare Cancun Adults Only All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, is set to open Oct. 31 following the conversion of the former Breathless Cancun.
The resort marks the Mexico debut of Amare, the adults-only concept from Spain's Fuerte Group Hotels, which will own and manage the property. It is also Fuerte's first tie-up with Hilton.
Amare Cancun will spread 429 ocean-view rooms and suites across two beachfront towers, a 20-story main building and a smaller six-story tower, each topped with its own rooftop pool. Add the main oceanfront pool and guests get three places to swim. The all-inclusive program leans hard on food and drink: nine restaurants, nine bars and a coffee shop, with several concepts developed alongside Michelin-starred chefs. The brand calls the mash-up of Mediterranean technique and Mexican ingredients "Cosmediterranean."
Rounding out the property are a nine-room spa, a fitness center, resident DJs and rotating art exhibitions, plus nearly 10,000 square feet of meeting space anchored by a 7,600-square-foot ballroom. The resort sits inside a protected bay along Boulevard Kukulcan, roughly 24 kilometers from Cancun International Airport. Reservations through Hilton are expected to open this summer, and guests will earn and redeem Hilton Honors points once it opens.
The conversion fits a broader pattern. Hilton's all-inclusive portfolio already includes resorts across Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and the Riviera Maya, and the company now runs more than 300 hotels across the Caribbean and Latin America with another 150 in development. Curio Collection alone counts 25 properties in the region, a number Hilton expects to double.
