Consistently recognized (pre-rebrand as The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real)
Tripadvisor
Zel Punta Cana brings something genuinely different to the saturated Bávaro Beach corridor: a Mediterranean-lifestyle concept backed by one of the most recognizable athletes on earth. The collaboration between Meliá Hotels International and Rafael Nadal transformed what was previously The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real into the first Zel-branded all-inclusive in the Americas when it reopened in December 2024. The result is an all-suite property that trades the typical mega-resort formula for a more curated, design-forward experience aimed at couples and younger travelers seeking energy without excess.
The all-inclusive rate covers all meals at four restaurants, unlimited drinks at three bars, 24-hour room service, a stocked minibar, non-motorized water sports, fitness classes, daily activities, nightly entertainment, and high-speed WiFi. All 190 suites include private outdoor whirlpool tubs and terraces, with the swim-up category offering direct pool access from a private garden — a standout feature for the price point.
The culinary program spans four venues: Parda, a Mediterranean-style buffet anchoring breakfast, lunch, and dinner service; Nokyo, a Japanese à la carte restaurant; Tacorini, an inventive Mexican-Greek fusion concept; and Volcán Asador, a steakhouse with premium cuts. Three bars — including the poolside Gabi Bar, H2O swim-up bar, and Silvestre wine bar — keep drinks flowing from morning to night. The Mediterranean influence is unmistakable throughout, from the plating to the ingredient sourcing.
The AUA Spa offers a menu of massages, body treatments, and facials in a tranquil setting, while the fitness center provides personal training sessions and group classes. Four tennis courts nod to Nadal's legacy, and the resort provides access to a nearby golf course for an additional fee.
Two outdoor pools anchor the leisure program — one with a swim-up bar and the other flanked by complimentary cabanas — while Playa Bávaro delivers the beach experience that made Punta Cana famous: powdery white sand, warm turquoise water, and palapa-shaded loungers with full service. Water sports including kayaking, sailing, and parasailing are available directly from the beach. Evening entertainment ranges from live music to themed events, keeping the Mediterranean-party-meets-Caribbean energy consistent after dark.
