Bayahibe is a quieter corner of the Dominican Republic — south coast, La Romana province, distinct from the Punta Cana corridor in character and clientele. Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach is the larger, more energetic of the two Dominicus resorts sharing the same stretch of beach, and it went through a full property renovation that reopened in October 2020 covering rooms, lobby, pools, restaurants, and bars.
The beachfront trapeze is a genuine differentiator. It runs on the beach — not on a platform in the middle of resort grounds — meaning you can watch from the beach chairs while eating or drinking. The setup draws a consistent crowd and is one of the reasons active families choose Dominicus Beach over quieter options on the south coast.
Five pools including a distinctive seawater infinity pool that overlooks the beach. The seawater pool is the most unusual feature — filled with actual Caribbean seawater rather than chlorinated freshwater — which some guests prefer for the mineral content and others find unusual. The main pool handles the general family crowd; the seawater infinity pool is quieter and tends to attract guests looking for something different.
Practically: 670 rooms, exchange access with Dominicus Palace includes four additional restaurants. La Romana International Airport (LRM) is 15–20 minutes away — a short transfer compared to most Dominican Republic resorts. The Atlantis beachfront restaurant has a supplement (not included in the standard all-inclusive rate). Seven restaurants including Atlantis range from included à la carte options to the supplemental gourmet experience.
