Dining Consistency

Weekend Crowding
The influx of local day-pass visitors on weekends can lead to increased crowds and a noticeable dip in service and food quality.
Service & Amenities in Early Stages
Some guests felt aspects of the resort, like Wi-Fi reliability and service speed in certain areas, were still being refined post-opening.
A La Carte Reservations

Viva Miches is the bet on an emerging destination. Opened at the end of 2024 with 535 rooms in its first phase (expanding to 750), the resort occupies Playa Esmeralda north of Punta Cana — a stretch of coast that, as of 2025, remains far less developed than the Punta Cana strip. If you want a Dominican Republic all-inclusive without the cruise ship scale and corridor-hotel density of Bavaro, this is the trade-off: a newer property in a quieter location, about 70–90 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).
The beach is the most compelling reason to book. Playa Esmeralda is a mile-long stretch of golden-white sand that consistently lacks the seaweed issues common in Punta Cana. The water is calm and protected. As the first large all-inclusive to open in Miches, the resort effectively has the beach to itself — no neighboring properties crowding the same stretch.
What gives Viva Miches genuine character is its proximity to Dominican wilderness. Los Haitises National Park — limestone mogotes, cave paintings, mangrove ecosystems, and endemic wildlife — is accessible from Miches by a relatively short boat trip. This puts the resort in a different category from Bavaro properties, which are surrounded by more resort corridor and less accessible wilderness.
The practical limitation: 70–90 minutes from Punta Cana airport means the transfer is long. For a week-long stay, this matters less. For short stays or guests with early flights, it adds friction. As a brand-new 2024 opening, early-phase teething issues should be expected.
