Sunscape Sabor Cozumel makes two specific claims that hold up to scrutiny: it has the largest private beachfront on Cozumel, and the biggest spa on the island with 12 treatment rooms. Both matter. Cozumel is a world-class diving and snorkeling destination, and the resort's beachfront access puts guests within swimming distance of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — the second largest barrier reef system on Earth. For divers and snorkelers, this is the primary reason to choose Sabor over any other Cozumel property.
At 128 rooms, this is a small resort by all-inclusive standards. You will know most of the staff by name within two days. The compact size means no golf cart shuttle to dinner, no 10-minute walks between buildings, and no waiting for elevators. Families who want a more intimate atmosphere than the thousand-room Punta Cana properties consistently rate this positively. A comprehensive renovation completed in July 2021 freshened the rooms considerably — this is not a dated property.
The honest limitation is dining variety. Four restaurants serve a property of 128 rooms — that's workable but the rotation will feel familiar by day four or five of a week-long stay. The Market Café buffet handles most meals; Oceana (seafood), Portofino (Italian), and El Patio (Mexican) are the specialty dinner options. La Cava private dining adds a premium option at extra charge. Guests on longer stays will want to venture into Cozumel town for variety.
128 rooms, opened January 2013, renovated 2021. 20 minutes (9–10 miles) from Cozumel International Airport (CZM). The Sunscape Spa by Pevonia® runs 12 treatment rooms, couples suites, and outdoor treatment areas — one of the more serious spa operations for a property this size. Sunny Side Grill runs late-night bites from 11 PM to 7 AM, which is useful for night divers returning from evening boat trips.
