Exceptional Service
Guests consistently praise the resort's staff for their friendliness and attentiveness, highlighting a standout level of service throughout the stay.
Tranquil Luxury with Lively Access
The unique concept of combining a serene, adults-only Preferred Club experience at Secrets with full access to the vibrant entertainment and dining at Breathless is highly valued, offering the best of both worlds.
Quality À La Carte Dining
Specific gourmet restaurants, particularly Rosewater and the French restaurant, receive high marks for their food quality, contributing positively to the overall dining experience.
Comfortable & Clean Suites
The resort's all-suite accommodations are frequently commended for being spacious, comfortable, clean, and featuring excellent showers, ensuring a relaxing private retreat.
Sargassum Seaweed
A recurring concern is the presence of sargassum seaweed on the beach, which can unfortunately impact the ability to swim in the ocean and the overall beach experience.
Inconsistent Buffet Dining
While à la carte options are praised, the buffet (Spoon) and sometimes the Italian restaurant are noted for inconsistent or lower food quality.
Maintenance & WiFi Issues
Some guests have observed that the hotel's exterior can appear dated or lack maintenance, alongside occasional complaints about unreliable WiFi connectivity.
Small Pool & Limited Secrets Entertainment
The exclusive Secrets pool area is sometimes described as very small, and entertainment specifically on the Secrets side can be perceived as lacking compared to the vibrant options at Breathless.

Cvent
Every suite at Secrets Riviera Cancún is Preferred Club. That's the defining structural fact about this property: with 164 accommodations all classified at the highest tier, there's no two-tier experience of haves and have-nots at the pool deck. Guests get the lounge, the exclusive pool, the concierge service, and the complimentary spa hydrotherapy circuit access — all of it, with no upgrade decision to make.
The "best of both worlds" positioning works in a concrete way here: all guests have free-flow access to the adjacent Breathless Riviera Cancún, adding nine more restaurants and a significantly larger entertainment infrastructure. Secrets stays quiet and adults-focused; Breathless has the Xcelerate pool zone, DJ sets, and the party-forward atmosphere. You can cross over when you want energy and retreat when you don't. It's a better setup than a single large property trying to serve both vibes simultaneously.
The caveats are real. The Secrets-only exclusive pool is described by guests as small — if you need serious pool space, the Breathless pools across the connection are where you'll spend afternoons. Sargassum affects the beach, as it does most of the Riviera Maya; conditions vary by week. The property opened December 2020 from a renovation of existing buildings, and the exterior age shows more than the interior.
Rosewater is the flagship on-site restaurant, serving international cuisine all three meals with ocean-view outdoor seating. Coquette (French) at Breathless is frequently mentioned in reviews as a dining highlight accessible under the free-flow arrangement. 20-26 minutes from Cancun Airport. For couples who want an all-Preferred Club environment in Riviera Cancún without building complexity, this property has a cleaner structure than the dual-tier alternatives.
