Resort Initiatives
Bayahibe Beach is what makes Secrets La Romana worth considering over other adults-only options in the Dominican Republic. It's a Blue Flag-certified beach with calm, clear water and a significantly lower seaweed burden than resorts on the country's Atlantic-facing north coast. The bay geometry keeps waves minimal, which makes it one of the more genuinely swimmable beaches you'll find at an all-inclusive in this region. That beach quality, not the branding or the room categories, is the primary reason to choose this property over competitors in Punta Cana.
This is a good match for couples who want an adults-only environment but occasionally want access to family-style entertainment — specifically a water park — without traveling far. Secrets La Romana shares property boundaries with Dreams La Romana, and the all-inclusive rate grants free access to Dreams' facilities. If you want strict adults-only tranquility at all times, this setup will occasionally feel intrusive when groups cross over for the day. If you want flexibility, it's an unusual perk.
The most consistent criticism in guest reviews is food quality at the à la carte restaurants. The buffet (Caoba) draws genuinely strong reviews — guests specifically mention it for variety and freshness. The specialty restaurants are hit or miss: Sakura's teppanyaki is popular, but Chinola and Noor receive mixed feedback on execution. The casino is on-site but doesn't dominate the property's tone — it's there for those who want it, easy to ignore for those who don't.
The resort has 356 rooms and sits 15-20 minutes from La Romana International Airport (LRM) — one of the shortest airport transfers in the Caribbean for an all-inclusive. It was formerly the Hilton La Romana and underwent a major renovation in 2019. The five-pool setup includes a Preferred Club-only pool with hydrotherapy waterfall, and a swim-out category connects to the main pool. Beach area is divided between general access and a private Preferred Club section. Note: room service incurs a $10 delivery fee.
