Secrets Bahia Mita opened in 2020 as a ground-up construction designed by Mexican architecture firm Sordo Madaleno — the same group behind several high-profile urban hotels in Mexico City. The result is a property where the building itself draws attention: tiered terraces, a rooftop infinity pool oriented toward Banderas Bay, and interior spaces that channel Pacific coastal modernism rather than generic resort tropics. For an adults-only all-inclusive in a market crowded with look-alike properties, the architecture is a genuine reason to choose this one.
The resort runs on the Secrets brand's Unlimited-Luxury model — meals, top-shelf drinks, non-motorized water sports, and entertainment are included. The more meaningful differentiator is the free-flow access to the adjacent Dreams Bahia Mita, a family-friendly sister property. In practice, Secrets guests can walk over and use Dreams' restaurants and bars, effectively expanding their dining options from 7 venues to 11. This matters on a 5- or 7-night stay when repeating the same restaurants gets old. Secrets guests retain their adults-only space; Dreams families don't have reciprocal access to Secrets.
The beach on Banderas Bay is 300 meters of golden sand, but some guests note that swimming conditions vary — the bay has surf and some days the water is choppier than Caribbean-style flat-calm beaches. This is actually part of the draw: the resort offers introductory surf lessons and leans into the surf culture of Punta Mita more than a typical luxury all-inclusive would. If you want reliably calm, crystal-clear water for snorkeling every day, this isn't the right coast for that.
Punta Mita is about 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). The town itself is small and upscale — this isn't a location where you wander out to a bustling local scene. The surrounding Riviera Nayarit coast has private residential communities and a few high-end hotels. Guests who want cultural immersion or local dining options will need a taxi into Puerto Vallarta proper.
