Sandos Finisterra's 1968 clifftop architecture is genuinely distinctive — the original resort was built into the rock face at the southern tip of Baja California, and many of the 272 rooms have panoramic views of both the Pacific Ocean and Cabo San Lucas Bay from that elevated position. The Whale Watchers Bar lives up to its name with sightings during whale season (December–April). That clifftop setting is also the explanation for the Spa del Mar's unusual ambiance, carved into the cliff with natural surroundings and Pacific views.
The beach situation requires honest framing: the beach at this resort, like most of Cabo San Lucas, has strong Pacific Ocean currents that make swimming dangerous. The beach is for sunbathing, water sports observation, and aesthetic appreciation — not swimming. Guests who want calm swimmable water should take a water taxi to Playa del Amor or book a day trip to the Sea of Cortez side. The resort's five outdoor pools (including an adults-only pool with swim-up bar) are the actual swimming facilities.
The location adjacent to downtown Cabo San Lucas is a material advantage: the marina, shopping, nightlife, and independent restaurants are walkable. This distinguishes Sandos Finisterra from the larger all-inclusives north of town that require a cab to access Cabo proper. The all-inclusive format works well here as a base with easy access out rather than as a self-contained compound.
Dining covers five restaurants and five bars. The Cupcake Café with its clifftop views serves creative coffee and baked goods — an unusual amenity. The Agave steakhouse (dinner) and Emiliano's Ostería (Italian) are the à la carte highlights; Don Diego handles international buffet with marina and Sea of Cortez views. The 45-minute drive from Los Cabos Airport (SJD) is standard for the area.
