Sandals Ochi has 105 pools. This is the number that tells you what kind of resort it is: sprawling, ambitious, and designed to have something everywhere. The property was relaunched after a $60 million renovation in 2014-2015, transforming what was previously Sandals Grande Riviera into a two-section resort — the hilltop Great House and the beachside Riviera — each with distinct architectural characters and atmospheres. A shuttle (called the 'Hop') connects the sections, which are not walkable between.
The Caribbean's first speakeasy, The Rabbit Hole, is the most distinctive entertainment offering: you need the daily password from a staff member to enter, and the bar runs cocktails in a Prohibition-era format. It's a genuine novelty in the all-inclusive context. Le Gourmand, Kelly's Dockside, and Valentino's are the three fine dining anchors; securing a reservation for all three on arrival day is the first strategic act of a stay here.
For a 519-room resort, Ochi punches above its weight on beach quality. The private cove beach with calm turquoise water is consistently cited as one of the best features of the stay. The trade-off is the airport transfer: Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay is about 1 hour 45 minutes away on the coast road. This is the longest transfer of any Sandals Jamaica property — factor it into your arrival and departure day planning.
Practically: complimentary green fees at nearby Sandals Golf & Country Club are included. PADI-certified scuba diving is included for certified divers. The resort's sheer size means guests occasionally rely more on the shuttle than they'd prefer — the hillside position of the Great House adds scenic views but reduces spontaneous movement between zones.
