Sandals Grande St. Lucian sits on its own peninsula in Rodney Bay — water on both sides — which produces the 360-degree ocean views the resort consistently advertises. The Atlantic Ocean faces one direction; the Caribbean Sea faces the other. Sunsets from the Caribbean-facing side are reliable and dramatic; the Piton Mountains are visible on a clear day. This is the physical premise that distinguishes Grande St. Lucian from other St. Lucia all-inclusives, and it holds up.
The Overwater Honeymoon Butler Bungalows, added in 2017, are the flagship accommodation. At 800 sq ft directly above turquoise Caribbean water with glass floor panels and a private deck, they function similarly to Maldives-style bungalows — at a fraction of the cost and flight time. The President Clinton Penthouse is the other standout at 1,000 sq ft across two stories. Both are oceanfront and come with full butler service.
The 'Stay at 1, Play at 3' program is a real benefit: guests can access the facilities at Sandals Regency La Toc and Sandals Halcyon Beach in Castries via complimentary shuttle, effectively expanding the dining and pool options significantly. The catch is the airport transfer — Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) is about 40 miles away and the drive takes 90 minutes to 2 hours. This is the most significant practical inconvenience of staying here, particularly on arrival and departure days.
The dining program is diverse with Gordon's on the Pier (the pier-side fine dining flagship), Bombay Club (Indian), and Kimonos (teppanyaki) as the standout specialty restaurants. Guest reviews generally rate food quality as strong, though some note it falls slightly below other Sandals properties' peaks. The mile-long Pigeon Island beach is consistently cited as gorgeous — sheltered, calm, and one of the better private resort beaches in St. Lucia.
