Resort Flock Picks
The $32 million renovation completed in November 2024 makes Royalton Punta Cana one of the most recently refreshed all-inclusives on Bavaro Beach — all 317 rooms, the lobby, Diamond Club lounge, and convention center were overhauled. What previous guest reviews flagged as tired rooms is now a less valid concern, though some minor punch-list items in newly renovated spaces have been noted. The resort sits about 23–32 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport, a manageable transfer.
The biggest operational differentiator here is the Stay at 1, Play at 2 arrangement with the adjacent Royalton Splash Punta Cana. Guests staying at Royalton Punta Cana get unlimited access to Royalton Splash's large water park, its additional restaurants, and its pools. This makes the property significantly more compelling for families — your kids can spend hours on water slides while you eat at restaurants on the Splash side, all without paying extra. The two properties are connected.
At 317 rooms, Royalton Punta Cana is mid-sized by Bavaro Beach standards. Every room is Diamond Club tier — there's no base-level non-Diamond category here — so butler service and lounge access are standard. The casino is small but functional. Bavaro Beach itself is good: soft sand, calm water, and consistent conditions for swimming. Seaweed (sargassum) affects the whole Bavaro coast seasonally, usually worst June through September, and Royalton is not immune.
The most common service complaints center on slow drink service at the buffet and inconsistent response to room requests. These are systemic issues that appear in reviews across the brand, not just this property. The buffet quality draws consistent praise, which is meaningful given how much meal time you spend there.
For couples without children, the Diamond Club setup with exclusive pool access and butler service is comfortable but not dramatically more luxurious than comparable properties in the area. Families with kids 4–14 who want water park access without a separate admission fee are the clearest fit for this resort.
