ReadyToTrip
Rixos Borovoe opened in 2012 on the southeastern shore of Lake Shchuchye inside Borovoe National Park—a setting unlike any other Rixos property. Pine forests, granite outcroppings, and a clear freshwater lake replace the usual beach-and-pool formula. The 200-room property is one of the few genuine national park all-inclusives in Central Asia, and the landscape is the primary reason to come.
The all-inclusive program covers meals at L'Olivo (the main buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), beverages, fitness access, and most sports. What it does not cover is important: Chalet Restaurant, Silk Way, Masala, and Steakhouse are all à la carte at extra cost. The wake park—Kazakhstan's first, according to the resort—costs extra. So do horseback riding, the rope park, nautical go-karts, mini-golf, and the casino. Guests who expect to stay on-property and have everything included will need to budget carefully.
The spa is a genuine strength. Hammam and Finnish sauna access are included. Treatments—Thai massage, sea algae wraps, body scrubs, crimean baths, light therapy—are extra cost but the thermal circuit itself requires no additional charge. This is meaningful at a property where winter stays, in particular, can make indoor facilities the main daytime option.
The property works well for two distinct guest types: families who want structured outdoor adventure (hiking, skiing in winter, lake water sports, kids' club) in an unusual Central Asian setting, and wellness travelers who want cold-weather spa access in a genuinely remote natural environment. It is a poor choice for guests who want beach, warm water, or a predictable tropical resort experience. The nearest major airport is Astana (TSE), 287 km away—plan the transfer in advance as options are limited.
