Park Royal Beach Huatulco sits on a hillside above Tangolunda Bay—not beachfront in the direct sense, but positioned for some of the better Pacific views available from a Huatulco resort. The 133 rooms spread across ten buildings connected by a shuttle service; the shuttle also runs 300 meters to a private beach club on Tangolunda. The geography requires planning: going to the beach or pool is not a quick walk down, it is a shuttle ride. Guests who find this limiting should note it clearly. Guests who find the elevated panoramic views worth the trade-off will not be disappointed.
Huatulco itself is the relevant context: this is one of Mexico's quieter planned resort towns on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca. It is not Cancun or Los Cabos—there is less infrastructure, less nightlife, and a more authentically local character. The bays are pristine, largely protected as a national park, and the town has genuine Oaxacan food and culture accessible without a long transfer. The airport is 20–26 km away, about 20–26 minutes.
At 3.5 to 4 stars, the resort is honest about its tier. Rooms have been described as spacious (some ocean-view suites running larger than standard categories), and the renovation work has updated finishes in recent years. The all-inclusive program covers all meals, domestic and international beverages, and non-motorized water sports at the beach club.
Two restaurants, one snack bar, and four bars handle the dining. The main buffet covers all three meals; the à la carte seafood option at El Pescador requires reservations for dinner. The activity program leans toward organized group activities rather than high-investment experiences.
