Pristine Environment
The beautiful and well-maintained grounds, coupled with the clean, expansive white-sand beach, create a truly serene and relaxing adults-only ambiance.
Gourmet Dining Experience
While variety is key, the quality of food and innovative menus in the specialty restaurants are a major draw, complemented by skilled mixologists at the bars.
Relaxing Pool & Beach Life
Multiple pools, including exclusive Reserve options and lively swim-up bars, alongside a well-serviced beach, ensure ample opportunities for sun and relaxation.
Buffet Food Temperature
A common point of feedback indicates that food at the main buffet can often be served lukewarm, which might impact the overall dining satisfaction for some guests.
Menu Repetition for Extended Stays
While many dining options exist, guests staying for longer durations occasionally find that menus across the various restaurants can feel somewhat repetitive.
Occasional Seaweed Presence
Depending on natural conditions, seaweed can sometimes accumulate on the beach, although the resort actively works to keep the area clean and enjoyable.
Premium Add-Ons
Certain high-end dining experiences, spa treatments, and select activities come with additional costs, which guests should budget for beyond the all-inclusive rate.

Paradisus La Perla's setting is its first differentiator: the resort sits within a mangrove forest rather than on an open beach strip, which creates a microclimate and visual environment unlike any other Playa del Carmen all-inclusive. The grounds have genuine jungle-like density — cenote pools, bird life, and shade that the concrete-and-pool resorts of the northern Hotel Zone lack entirely. For guests who find the Cancún strip overstimulating, this location has a meaningful calming effect.
The signature restaurant, Passion by Martín Berasategui, is the other distinctive element. Berasategui holds three Michelin stars at his flagship Basque restaurant in Spain, and while the resort version is an adapted menu rather than a standalone fine-dining experience, it consistently outperforms what comparable all-inclusive properties offer in the specialty restaurant category. Guests should book this first and treat it as the culinary centerpiece of the stay.
The resort opened in December 2011 and completed a full room renovation in 2020–2021, which means the accommodations are in good condition for the price tier. Eleven room categories run from Nature View Junior Suites through Reserve swim-up Master Suites and a two-bedroom option. The Reserve tier here — adults-only exclusive pool, priority dining, premium concierge — works the same as across Paradisus properties.
The honest issue is the main buffet. Guest reviews flag lukewarm food temperature as a recurring problem — the main buffet keeps dishes at lower temperatures than they should. This is noticeable in the first day and annoying by day three. The specialty restaurants compensate, but guests doing 7-night stays will hit the buffet multiple times and need to manage expectations.
The beach here is a 10-minute walk or short shuttle from the main resort area — the mangrove forest sits between the rooms and the sea. This is not a walk-out-your-door-to-the-beach property. Playa del Carmen is 45 minutes from Cancún airport.
