Paradisus Gran Canaria is the brand's first property in Europe, opening in March 2023 after a full transformation of the site in San Agustín — the quieter southern Gran Canaria resort area that sits between the busier Playa del Inglés to the east and the quieter Puerto de Mogán to the west. For guests evaluating Gran Canaria all-inclusives, it is currently the newest and most comprehensively built product on the island, with a design quality that stands apart from the older Canary Islands resort stock.
The eight restaurants and the overall food program are the primary differentiator. Lemon Fish Nikkei Sky Bar brings a Peruvian-Japanese fusion concept to a terrace with ocean views — unusual for the Canary Islands market. Mangú by Leandro Díaz is the signature restaurant honoring Dominican culinary tradition. The buffet (Origen Gastro Hall) runs live cooking stations that receive consistently strong guest feedback. For a major European all-inclusive, the dining variety is genuinely above average.
The tiered room system splits between standard Premium rooms and The Reserve (adults-only section with exclusive pool, dedicated restaurant, and premium concierge). The gap in service quality between the two tiers is the same as at other Paradisus properties — The Reserve is worth the price difference if evening restaurant access and quieter pool environments matter.
The honest constraint is San Agustín beach itself — it's dark volcanic sand rather than white, which is the reality of this stretch of Gran Canaria's coast. The water is calmer than the windward beaches, and the beach is well-maintained, but guests expecting white Caribbean sand will need to adjust expectations or take the short drive to the artificial sand at Playa del Inglés.
Gran Canaria Airport is about 25 minutes from the property. The Canary Islands' year-round mild climate (18–24°C in winter, 26–30°C in summer) makes this property viable outside the typical European beach season — a practical advantage for guests traveling in November through February.
