Additional Costs
While an all-inclusive, guests should budget for premium experiences like character breakfasts, private sliming, professional photos, and gift shop items, which add up quickly.
Compact Beach
The beach, though accessible and generally uncrowded, is noted by some guests as smaller and less ideal for those seeking a vast, sprawling beach experience.
Resort Layout & Shuttles
The resort's spread-out design, requiring shuttle use between the main lobby/water park and the room/beach areas, can be a minor inconvenience, despite the frequent and comfortable transport.
Pool Temperatures
Some visitors have mentioned that the pools can be quite cold, which might impact comfort for guests sensitive to water temperature.

Every one of the 280 suites at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya has a private infinity plunge pool on the terrace. That single design decision separates this property from its sister resort in Punta Cana and from most family all-inclusives in Mexico. The 581-square-foot suites are all oceanfront, and the plunge pools face the Caribbean — it's a meaningful upgrade that guests with young children cite as the reason they chose this property over alternatives.
Opened in August 2021, this is a newer facility than the Dominican Republic location, and the condition reflects it. The AAA Four Diamond rating puts it in the same quality tier as the Punta Cana sister resort. The Gourmet Inclusive® program means food quality sits a tier above standard all-inclusives — the same culinary philosophy, different menus. The Náay Spa is smaller (4,200 sq ft, 7 treatment suites) than the Vassa Spa in Punta Cana but includes a complimentary hydrotherapy circuit for guests booking treatments.
The 6-acre Aqua Nick Water Park is the primary activity driver: 21 water slides, two floating rivers (Adventure and Lazy), PAW Patrol Adventure Bay, and Bikini Bottom Beach. The park is large relative to the resort's 280-room count, which keeps crowd levels lower than typical big-resort water parks. Club Nick (ages 4–12, 9 AM–5 PM) provides structured daytime programming for children. The Snick Lounge serves the evening needs of families with older kids.
Worth knowing before booking: the beach is compact and not the wide-open Caribbean strip some families expect. The ocean access works fine for activities but isn't the resort's main feature — the pools and water park are where families actually spend their days. The resort is 30 minutes south of Cancun Airport (CUN), making it one of the closer major family resorts to the airport in the Riviera Maya region.
For comparison: choose this property over the Punta Cana location if private plunge pools and a newer facility are priorities. Choose Punta Cana if you want the larger Vassa Spa, the longer-hours Club Nick (until 11 PM vs 5 PM here), and slightly broader dining options.
