Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres opened in November 2019 on Costa Mujeres, a stretch of Caribbean coast 20 miles north of Cancun. The 570-room property is divided into a family section and an Elegance Club — an adults-only (18+) enclave that accounts for roughly 383 of those rooms. The split matters at booking: Elegance Club guests get butler service, 7 private pools, dedicated beach areas, and exclusive lounge dining for breakfast and lunch. Family-section guests share the 6 à la carte dinner restaurants and remaining pools, but the service tier difference is real.
The dining program is legitimately strong for an all-inclusive at this scale. Six restaurants offer à la carte dinners — the Italian (Il Botaccio), steakhouse (Asadito), Japanese teppanyaki and sushi (Kabuki), Mexican (El Mariachi Loco), the gourmet Bistro (adults-only, reservation required), and the beachfront Mar House with included lobster at dinner. Kabuki's teppanyaki tables require advance reservations; walk-in sushi is available. The inclusion of lobster at Mar House is notable and worth timing an evening for.
The Blossom Spa, which opened concurrent with the resort, occupies two stories and is centered on a Cenote (cave) massage experience — a distinctive offering rooted in Yucatecan culture that genuinely differentiates it from standard resort spa menus. The hydrotherapy circuit, beauty salon, and massage sanctuary round out a well-designed facility. Book on arrival day.
The honest limitation: Costa Mujeres is remote. The 20-minute drive north of Cancun's hotel zone means a taxi or shuttle for anything off-property, and the area itself is still developing — there is no town center or walkable neighborhood to escape to. Guests who want to explore Cancun or Isla Mujeres need to plan and budget for transportation. Drive time from Cancun International Airport (CUN) is 40-55 minutes depending on traffic. This is a stay-put resort for guests who want everything on-site.
