The £60 million renovation that wrapped in October 2022 turned Le Meridien Ile Maurice into a genuinely different resort from what guests experienced before. The most tangible result is the Nirvana wing — a self-contained adults-only enclave with its own reception desk, infinity pool, dedicated bar, and cordoned beach section. Couples and honeymooners booking Nirvana suites effectively get a quiet boutique-within-a-resort experience while remaining eligible for the broader property's four restaurants and beach. The main resort side remains accessible to families.
The dining program across nine venues is one of the strongest in the Pointe aux Piments area. Jade offers Pan-Asian fine dining with teppanyaki grills at beachfront tables — reserve ahead at check-in as it fills quickly. Kumin handles authentic Indian cuisine in an open-air poolside setting; guests regularly call it the best meal of the trip. Zoli Mamzel / Waves shifts from a casual beach BBQ at lunch to a proper a la carte seafood dinner setting. Make all specialty restaurant reservations on arrival day, not later.
The honest problem guests report: the beach. The northwest coast of Mauritius has calmer water than the east, which is why it's popular — but the entry can be rocky in places, and swimming shoes are practical rather than optional. Several reviews also flag that the main buffet dinner rotation gets repetitive after day four, making the specialty restaurants feel less optional and more necessary.

The Explore Spa houses five treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, and the Snow Room — a real-snow cold therapy chamber that is genuinely the first of its kind in Mauritius.
