Jewel Punta Cana opened in December 2022 as a rebrand of the former Dreams Punta Cana, then underwent a $65 million renovation before reopening under the Wyndham Alltra flag in April 2024. This matters if you're researching the property: reviews from the Jewel era and the Wyndham Alltra era reflect meaningfully different physical conditions. Rooms renovated under the Wyndham program are reported as modern and spacious; older unrefurbished units still show their age.
The resort is well-suited to guests who want variety — 36 food and beverage outlets, a roster of water sports and fitness classes, and a free-form pool that is genuinely one of the largest in Punta Cana. Families benefit from the Explorer's Club (ages 3–12) and Core Zone Teen Club (13–17), both well-reviewed. Guests who prioritize a quieter, low-traffic property should look elsewhere — 620 rooms makes this one of the larger all-inclusives in the area, and the beach and pool show it on busy weekends when local day visitors add to the load.
The main honest drawback: Uvero Alto Beach, while beautiful, has more exposed-coast conditions than the calm bays of Cabeza de Toro. Seaweed management is ongoing, and the beach experience varies more week-to-week than at properties on the protected bay side. The airport transfer is also longer than most Punta Cana competitors — plan for 35 minutes each way.
The property is approximately 35 miles from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). The Preferred Club tier adds concierge service and access to exclusive pool zones, though guests report the exclusivity enforcement can be inconsistent. Wi-Fi service across the large property has been flagged as unreliable — download entertainment before arrival if connectivity matters to you.
