Hotel Riu Palace Tenerife's most specific selling point is the adults-only beachfront infinity pool. It's a separate pool from the main complex, positioned directly at the water's edge facing the Atlantic, and it's restricted to guests 18+. For an adult couple who want a quieter pool experience than the typical all-inclusive offers, this is the relevant differentiator — not the pool count overall, but the specific existence of a reserved option.
Playa del Duque is the beach here. It has breakwaters, which produce calmer swimming conditions than the more exposed stretches of Tenerife's southern coast. This is a practical advantage — Tenerife south can have strong swells that make casual swimming uncomfortable. The volcanic black sand is an aesthetic reality of this island: it's fine and soft, but dark-colored rather than white.
The property dates to 1999 but underwent a €26 million renovation in July 2015, a project that took 100 days and included a full room remodel, furnishings replacement, and the 4-to-5-star upgrade. Post-renovation, 334 rooms. The five pools include two outdoor heated in winter, an indoor pool within the spa complex, and the children's pool also heated in winter — the year-round Canary Islands climate means heated pools are relevant rather than just marketing.
The Poolside Spanish Restaurant is a specialty option worth noting. A Spanish tapas and à la carte concept at a property on Tenerife — a Spanish island — is more contextually appropriate than the generic Italian or Asian alternatives that typically occupy this slot in the all-inclusive format. Reservations are required for dinner. Krystal handles fusion gourmet as the other specialty option.
