The Riu Palace Oasis's unusual distinction is its palm park. Over a thousand palm trees spread across the resort grounds, creating a shaded garden environment that's genuinely different from the exposed concrete-and-pool format of most Gran Canaria resort hotels. The trees aren't ornamental — they provide real shade across the property, which makes outdoor temperatures more manageable during summer peaks. This, combined with the September 2018 full rebuild, puts the physical condition of the property well ahead of competitors that haven't renovated since the early 2010s.
This is a half-board property with a family-friendly orientation (unusual in a property that also offers adults-only swim-up rooms as a room category). The RiuLand kids' club caters to ages 4–12; the adults-only swim-up rooms give couples a private pool option within the same resort. Both guest types coexist across the four pools, which creates a mixed environment rather than a clean adults-only experience. Guests who want strict separation from family noise should note this.
Maspalomas Beach is directly accessible from the property. That direct access — no walk through dunes, no 800 meters of sand, just resort gates opening to the beach — is the clearest operational advantage over nearby competitors like the Riu Palace Maspalomas, which requires a 15-minute dune walk. The dunes themselves are part of the backdrop; the Maspalomas lighthouse and the protected reserve are visible from the beach.
