Diverse & Quality Dining
The culinary experience is highly praised for its extensive variety, including excellent buffet options, live cooking stations, and a selection of specialty à la carte restaurants catering to diverse palates.
Pristine Environment
The resort maintains a high standard of cleanliness across all areas, from the beautifully kept grounds to the meticulously cleaned guest rooms, contributing to a pleasant and comfortable stay.
Stunning Beachfront
The private, soft white sand beach, featuring crystal-clear, calm Caribbean waters and picturesque views of Mahoe Bay, is a significant draw for relaxation, swimming, and enjoyment of non-motorized watersports.
Comprehensive Entertainment
A rich array of daily activities, nightly shows, live music, and privileged access to the more lively entertainment and discotheque at sister resorts ensures guests are never short of things to do.
Wi-Fi Consistency
Guests frequently report issues with the Wi-Fi, noting it can be inconsistent or have poor signal quality in various areas of the resort, which can be a point of frustration.
Noise from Proximity
Due to its close proximity to the airport, guests should anticipate some overhead plane noise, and local dog barking can occasionally be heard at night, potentially impacting tranquility.
Beach Vendors & Privacy
The presence of local vendors in the water near the beach can sometimes intrude on guests' sense of privacy and tranquility, requiring guests to manage their expectations regarding solitude.
Specialty Dining Access
Securing reservations at specialty restaurants can be challenging for some guests, and the quality of these venues occasionally falls short of expectations, leading to mixed dining reviews.

Riu Palace Jamaica's strongest selling point isn't the beach or the buffet — it's geography. Mahoe Bay sits just 2.7 km from Sangster International Airport (MBJ), which means guests are in a swim-up bar within 15 minutes of landing. For repeat RIU travelers, this matters: you spend vacation time, not transfer time.
This 288-room adults-only (18+) property fits a specific traveler: couples and solo adults who want a quiet base with the option to walk next door when the mood strikes. The exchange privilege with Riu Montego Bay and Riu Reggae gives you access to their pools, bars, and the Pacha discotheque without booking a separate stay. If the Palace's own three pools feel too mellow, a five-minute walk opens up a completely different resort energy. Families and guests under 18 should look elsewhere.
The honest drawback is size. At 288 rooms, the Palace Jamaica is one of the smaller RIU Palace properties, which keeps the atmosphere calm but also limits variety. The four specialty restaurants (fusion, Italian, Japanese, steakhouse) are the full rotation — once you've done all four, you're back to the buffet or repeating. The Renova Spa is actually located at the adjacent sister properties, not on-site, which requires a short walk for treatments.
Practically: 288 rooms on all-inclusive plan; Elite Club upgrade adds premium drinks, dedicated check-in, and amenity upgrades. Three outdoor pools, two with swim-up bars. Introductory scuba and non-motorized watersports (windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling) included. Room count on the smaller side keeps it quieter than Cancun-area mega-resorts. Airport transfer is legitimately fast — factor that into trip length calculations.
Best months are December through April when trade winds keep humidity manageable. The resort sits in Montego Bay's hotel strip, so noise from occasional events at neighboring properties can carry. Book Elite Club if you plan to spend heavily at the bar — the per-drink premium pricing makes the upgrade pay off within a couple of days.
