The location is Costa Mujeres rather than downtown Cancun — roughly 35–60 minutes from the airport (CUN) — which means the resort exists at a remove from the hotel strip. That distance is either a feature (quieter, more exclusive feel) or an inconvenience (excursions and off-property dining require effort).
The Elite Club by RIU is available, providing adults-only rooms and exclusive services within the otherwise family-friendly property. This dual positioning — Elite Club for adults, RiuLand for children — is an attempt to serve both audiences, and it works reasonably well because the resort is large enough (600–670 rooms) to keep the zones physically separated.
