The 24-hour all-inclusive program, covering all meals, drinks (including in-room liquor dispensers), and a wide array of activities and entertainment, offers excellent value.
Dining Consistency & Booking
Some guests report issues with buffet food temperature or replenishment, and difficulties securing reservations for à la carte restaurants, which often seem fully booked yet empty.

Travelife Sustainability System
Bloody Bay Beach is one of Jamaica's better swimming beaches. Unlike the rocky cliff sections around Rick's Café to the south, or some sections of Seven Mile Beach that have seaweed issues, Bloody Bay offers clear, calm water with white sand. Riu Negril sits directly on it, and the December 2024 renovation brings all facilities to current standard — this is relevant because several older reviews mentioned dated rooms, and the complete top-to-bottom refurbishment addresses those concerns.
The swim-up rooms are worth highlighting specifically: the Swim-Up Ocean Front category puts guests in ground-floor rooms with direct access to a pool that faces the ocean. Given the beach quality and the room category options, this is one of the better swim-up room situations in Riu's Jamaica portfolio.
The Jerk Station is a recurring highlight in guest reviews — specifically, the advice from guests is to order 'no chop' jerk chicken and to try both sauces. This kind of specific, real advice in reviews indicates the Jerk Station is worth genuinely engaging with, not just walking past. Hair braiding in the spa menu is also specific to this property's Caribbean setting in a way that most Riu spa menus aren't.
The honest operational friction: drinks are described as watered down in reviews unless you tip the bartenders. À la carte restaurants fill quickly despite appearing empty — they're often reserved in advance via the app for the following day. Beach vendors at Bloody Bay approach resort guests persistently — this is a Jamaica-wide characteristic, not unique to this resort, but it's consistent enough to mention.
Practically: Approximately 70 km from Montego Bay's Sangster Airport (MBJ), roughly 75–90 minutes by car. No Negril airport — the MBJ transfer is the standard option. 24-hour all-inclusive with 20 dining and drinking venues.
